Travel 3.0 Netherlands.
This is a former island (now joined to the mainland by a causeway) named Marken, or Maarken. I couldn't find any information about this place online. I'm going to guess that it's because not many, probably none, of the people who live in this tiny village, have internet access. The only info that I know came from a Netherlands native, but I won't share that here since it could very well be just tall tales and legends. A really beautiful and quaint place, with very colorful homes. People there often dress in traditional Dutch clothes and clogs. I'd love to visit there again. If anyone has any historical facts to share about Marken, please pass them along, thanks!

Snow in CT.
Well, it finally snowed for Ava. It's been the driest season that I can remember. I think I saw a couple flurries on the island in the past few months. It actually accumulated a little bit while I've been in CT these last 2 weeks. Ava and Rex took a stroll outside, though she kept professing that she was stuck in the ice. I think she just meant that her boots were awkward to walk in. After she came in, I took this glowing shot of her. She's ridiculously beautiful, if I do say so myself. Snowboarding with Kirian tomorrow at Mt Snow! I can't believe how much I miss it!

New York, New York.
I don't get down to the city very often, though I did just plan an engagement shoot with a couple there in the spring! I hopped on a train to meet up with my friend Nicole, whom I haven't seen in nearly 3 years, this Saturday. (Happy Birthday Nic!) It was really mild, unlike today's record lows (ouch). I took just a few photos for fun.

Mary and Michael Engagement
Yesterday I went to the Conn College Arboretum to photograph an engagement session for an adorable couple. I am also shooting their wedding at the New London Coast Guard in May. They were all smiles and really good sports. I just love people in love! This would be a great location to come back to in the spring when the flowers are blooming and the leaves are green. It looks a little like fall right now but the weather was mild enough for us to take a little walk through the park. Here's a glimpse of my favorites....

Neil Van Niekerk's lighting workshop.
So, Neil is a lighting genius, and kind enough to share his secrets! I think the total participants of pro photographers ended up being about 25. Twice as much as the max! I would strongly recommend one of his workshops, or one-on-ones, to any photographer looking to step out of their box a little and learn a thing or 2 from a really nice guy. Plus, it's always fun for me to nerd around a bit with people who live in my world.

Don't move or Craig Molway will shoot!
