Off the island for 2 weeks.

I am staying in Connecticut for a couple of very busy, work filled weeks! Just got back from a workshop with Neil Van Niekerk (PlanetNeil.com and OnePerfectMoment.com) in Boston and yes, Ava missed me...

Announcing the engagement session winners tomorrow, stay tuned!

    Travel 2.0 Barcelona

Probably my very favorite city in Europe! I wouldn't recommend going to Barcelona in the heat of July, though.

Antoni Gaudi was a genius, avant-garde architect. He died in 1926 as a result of a streetcar accident. His style is so recognizable and is prominent throughout Barcelona. The chimneys are on top of the Casa Mila, which is a ridiculously intricate building seen here Casa Mila. The pillars are a part of La Sagrada Familia, an immense basilica that has been a work in progress for roughly 125 years! It was difficult capturing an image of the beautiful structure without any construction in the shot. This was taken, I'm guessing, from about 300 feet up a flight of stairs, since the pillars are each 100 meters tall! All I remember is a very narrow and dark, spiral stairway that had few windows until BAM! you're way up high looking over miles of Barcelona. La Sagrada Familia is definitely a must-see in Barcelona, and you'll have no choice since it's so big!

    A Nice New Lens.

It sounds like a hurricane outside. So, you'll be seeing photos of Ava and past travels for a while. I don't plan on stepping outside for another few weeks. Enjoy.

P.S. Have you heard the new song on the iPod commercial and been wondering who it is? After a great big search, I have found them! The Fratellis!

    Travel 1.0 Paris.

I couldn't think of anything better to do on this rainy, grey island day than to dig up some travel photos. Maybe it's a reach back to my youth when I had not one responsibility or maybe I'm just wishing for a vacation...

First up is Paris 2001. I stood in the middle of the road for the shot of L'Arc de Triomphe. I think it was pretty safe, if I remember correctly there was a median that I was standing in. I did not climb the 284 steps to the top, but I did march the 674 steps to the top of the Tour Eiffel. That was enough for me. Paris is not a place I would recommend going to alone while your boyfriend is back in the States with a broken leg. I'm just saying.

This will be a weekly project, so be sure to check back!

    Free Engagment Sessions!

I'm giving away free engagement sessions to 4 lucky couples!

This is for any couple who is engaged, doesn't have a wedding photographer booked yet, and wants portraits taken of themselves, in love, prior to their wedding! Currently, anyone who books with Zofia Photography for their wedding receives a complimentary engagement session as long as it's photographed on Nantucket. I'm now offering this special to anyone in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island! The engagement session may be photographed in the location of your choice (within the 3 states), and any time prior to your wedding.

Please send a recent photo, your story, location, and wedding date to info@zofiaphoto.com. Make sure to include "engagement session" in the subject!

    Deadline is March 1st.

    Good luck!
