Antoni Gaudi was a genius, avant-garde architect. He died in 1926 as a result of a streetcar accident. His style is so recognizable and is prominent throughout Barcelona. The chimneys are on top of the Casa Mila, which is a ridiculously intricate building seen here Casa Mila. The pillars are a part of La Sagrada Familia, an immense basilica that has been a work in progress for roughly 125 years! It was difficult capturing an image of the beautiful structure without any construction in the shot. This was taken, I'm guessing, from about 300 feet up a flight of stairs, since the pillars are each 100 meters tall! All I remember is a very narrow and dark, spiral stairway that had few windows until BAM! you're way up high looking over miles of Barcelona. La Sagrada Familia is definitely a must-see in Barcelona, and you'll have no choice since it's so big!
